Liverpool fans have been delighted for the past 24 hours after Mohamed Sara dedicated his future to Premier League leaders by signing a new contract, and head coach Arne Slot believes this could have a positive knock-on effect at the club.
Salah finished months of speculation by writing a new two-year contract on Friday. This means that he will now be staying at Anfield until the end of the 2026-27 season. And this means that soon, Liverpool is likely to remain a very serious title contender for the coming years, especially in anticipation of a busy summer 2025 transfer window.
Sarah’s stay means Liverpool doesn’t expect to sign a new right winger, but given that both Luis Diaz and Darwinnes are strongly linked to the departure, it’s very likely they will deal with the other two positions in the front three.
Arne Slot believes Salah Stay will help Liverpool this summer
If you leave both, you will need to replace them. And what Liverpool targeted the summer moves will be drawn to the prospect of participating now, as he told the media on Friday (via the mirror) that Sarah is here.
“It’s always good that MOs stay when we put ourselves in the shoes of the players we want to sign. That helps, but the most useful thing is to maintain a high-quality player who scored so many goals in 7/8 years. There are people who can score because they are judged by goal.”
Liverpool supporters water the mouth of the prospect of potential link-ups with people like Alexander Isaac, who are thought to be on the list of targets for sports director Richard Hughes’ striker. It is still unclear whether the Egyptian stay decision has the effect that slots hoped for.
