Liverpool manager Arne Slot made a rather worrying claim about the Reds’ current struggle, suggesting that the team knows how to play against his side.
The Dutch tactician has been doing a great job mostly since taking over as Liverpool’s manager last season, leading the Merseyside giants to the Premier League title and the Carabao Cup final.
Liverpool also started the campaign properly on fair ground, but lost their last two games in a row against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.
The LFC recognized many goals and relied on late winners before those defeats, so perhaps it seemed to come for a bit.
Arne Slot explains the Liverpool struggle
A little worried, Slot told a press conference that he thinks the team took him a little lightly when he first took over from Jurgen Klopp.
The former Feyenoord manager says he noticed this late last season.
He now feels that he needs to solve a way to adapt to this. Perhaps considering he noticed this a few months ago, it’s concern that he hasn’t done anything about it already.
“I don’t think we’re doing anything different. We see the team doing a lot of different things than us,” Slot said. This quote was quoted by Liverpool’s official website.
“So, the first part of last season gave me a lot of gifts, but one of the gifts he gave me was the third and fifth gifts of the previous year, and he was very well known, and a new manager came and everyone said, “Oh, let’s start playing against Liverpool.”
“And the team played in a completely different way towards us in the first half of the season than when they were at the top of the Champions League in the first part of the season.
“And you can see this going into this part of this season. We have to find the answer to that. Last season, one of the answers was set pieces, like many teams unlocking the low blocks of set pieces. And we haven’t done that this season yet.”
