Arsenal is about to sign a striker this summer, but so far their pursuit hasn’t been as easy as they hoped. As a result, the new name is now considered an option by sports director Andrea Berta.
Over the past few weeks, Arsenal has prioritized two players to sign Benjamin Sesco and Victor’s Gyoker. Both are preferred by Berta and head coach Mikel Arteta, but despite the intrusions being made for both, neither contract has been completed.
And this leads to other players being placed on Arsenal’s radar, one of which is now considered for summer pursuits.
Arsenal’s eye movement targeting Liverpool target Hugo Ekitique
As Build reported, Arsenal is considering the move of Eintrack’s Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitique. The 22-year-old, who scored 22 goals in all competitions last season, is an option for Berta as he has slow progress in the Sesco and Gyoker deals.
At this stage, Liverpool is favourite to sign Ekitique this summer, but Arsenal could consider hijacking any move if they decide that Sesco and Gyoker are not worthy of being considered a primary target.
The problem that Arsenal may face is that Ekitique is believed to be valued at £85 million by Frankfurt. In this regard, trading is rarely a priority, but is optional if previous PSG attackers are considered suitable for Arteta.
For now, it is still unclear how things will unfold in Arsenal’s striker search. The panic has not been set yet, but there are some complaints about the lack of progress made in the deals they are working on.
