Arsenal won West Ham United to head the Premier League, but as his injury issues continued, it was another afternoon that he would forget for Martin Odegard.
Arteta admits Odegaard’s injury is “not positive”
That was an injury season for Arsenal as a whole, the whole of last season. Much of their summer spending is centered around enhancing deep quality for Mikel Arteta’s team. But that helped to end some concerns, but Mikel Arteta still has one big Odegard concern after the Norwegian was injured in the third generation match on Saturday afternoon.
All Arsenal’s summer spending seemed to be gathering against West Ham. Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka and Viktor Gyokeres all shared all their concerns that Atteta didn’t let go of Handbrake.
Arteta, as frustrated as anyone, provided the midfielder’s updates in his post-match response. “In Martin, it was a crash, from knee to knee. He wasn’t looking that positive at this point. He was immediately uncomfortable. I spoke to him.
Arsenal shared an update on Odegard on Sunday, revealing that he has maintained a “corosive ligament injury in the medial left knee” and withdrawn from international obligations with Norway.
The big question is how long Odegaard will miss. He has already been forced to sit from three games in every tournament, and injuries experts have revealed the worst-case scenario of the Arsenal captain following another set-off.
Injury experts reveal the worst Odegard scenario
Responding to the injury, injury expert Physio Scout has revealed that Odegaard could miss up to six weeks of action with a Grade 2 MCL injury.
An injury expert said: Martin Odegard Update: Arsenal captain has been removed from future Norway equipment after suffering an MCL injury. As mentioned in previous analysis, valley stress or direct effects on his knees can cause excessive loading on the medial collateral ligament, leading to current problems.
Expected recovery time: Grade 1: 1-3 weeks, Grade 2: 3-6 weeks, Grade 3: 6-10 weeks+.
There seems to be an unlikely injury to the third grade here. Grade 1 or 2 sprains seem plausible.
If Odegaard missed six weeks of action, he missed seven games until the next November international break, including Champions League fixtures against Atletico Madrid.
You may miss it if Game Odegard is out for 6 weeks | date |
