Madueque put his pen on paper on his contract on Wednesday to become a new Arsenal player (Fabrizio Romano).
The five new arrivals will replace Jorginho, Thomas Partey, Kieran Tierney, Marquinhos, Nuno Tavares and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
According to Athletic, Albert Sambi Roconga, Fabio Vieira and Olexandr Zinchenko could all leave Arsenal, with uncertainty surrounding both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Torosador.
This is the same case for Winger Reese Nelson, who spent half of last season on loan at Fulham before being cut short by a hamstring injury.
The 25-year-old has been welcomed by Arteta in his previous campaign, but there’s no space for Nelson given the abundance of quality wingers in their team, let alone Arsenal’s ongoing pursuit of Crystal Palace star Ebeki Eze.
“I think we have the potential, and I think we saw something special at Reiss,” Arteta said of Nelson in 2023.
“He was part of our academy system and now we have a chance, he has been out for almost three months with injuries.
“The way he acted and the way he matured and evolved over the past year or so was really impressive. I think everyone is talking about it. Now he needs to do it on the pitch.”
Fulham discusses to re-sign Reiss Nelson from Arsenal
Now, according to BBC journalist Sami Mokbell, Fulham appears to be ready to make Nelson the first contract of the summer.
Fulham is in discussions with Arsenal about re-signing Nelson on loan again, with all involved working to find a solution that will allow the British to return to Craven Cottage for another spell.
Nelson has been in a string of loan moves that have left Arsenal since making his senior debut in 2017.
Over the past eight years, he has failed to work to become a regular starter for his boyhood club while wearing Hoffenheim, Feyenoold and Fulham jerseys – despite some key moments of Arteta’s admiration and Flash.
Now is the time to seal a permanent exit for him, and Nelson’s contract will also expire in just two years.
