Arsenal is still looking to sign a new striker. They moved to not have their main targets planned. As a result, they could consider other targets, and one of them could become Ollie Watkins.
Arsenal has shown interest in Watkins in the past, reporting that Aston Villa is preparing to leave the 29 year old this summer could be a time when they’re diving.
Arsenal maintains interest in Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins
According to a soccer insider, former scout Mick Brown revealed that Arsenal still has Watkins on the list of striker targets.
“Arsenal is still interested in Ollie Watkins. From what I’ve heard, he supported them as a boy and he wants to make that move for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta wants to sign a striker and appreciates what Watkins can do, so it’s a move that seems the best for every party.
“It doesn’t always work that way, but everyone is an enthusiastic move to get past the line. He wants to play regular football next season and make sure he’s with the England team for the World Cup next summer.
“From what I’ve heard, he’s ready to take the chance to go to Arsenal and become their number nine. He’s in the best option in his position on the side that wants to win the league, so I think he has a chance to establish himself there.
“The only problem at the moment is that Arsenal is still considering a lot of players in that position. I think Watkins will go if they miss someone else, so it’s not a move that will happen in the next few days, for example.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal is making any concrete moves for Watkins, who has scored 44 goals and 27 assists in his final two seasons at Aston Villa. However, if Benjamin Sesco and Victor’s Gyoker remained the same fortune, it would not be surprising that efforts were made.
