Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn has nominated the gunner’s ideal striker target before the summer transfer period.
Many names have recently been linked to Arsenal, including Viktor Gyoker and Alexander Isak.
Still, Winterburn does not consider Isaac unrealistic. The former Arsenal left-back is calling on Mikel Arteta to bring in Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
Watkins was a target for Arsenal, especially in January, but at that point the North London giants were turned down for him.
Chelsea still links with Watkins, which could be an interesting race for England International.
Arsenal needs the right striker like Ollie Watkins, says Gunners legend Nigel Winterburn
We saw how much Arsenal lacked clinical finishers mid-week against PSG. The likes of LeandroTrossard and Gabriel Martinelli were really missing out on good opportunities.
If Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus weren’t injured, it could have certainly been very different for the AFC, but nonetheless, there is still a need for an upgrade at center forward.
“A proper No. 9 is essential right now,” Winterburn told the free bet. “I haven’t seen Arsenal paying £125 million to Isaac. Watkins is interesting. I’ve always liked players filled with Premier League.
Watkins may not be younger, but he continues to shine in the Premier League and can easily imagine making a difference in some of Arsenal’s close-up games this season.
Does a lack of proper strikers cost Arsenal in the Champions League?
Arsenal has already paid the price to draw too many games in the Premier League, as Liverpool just won the title and it costs money in the Champions League as well?
Arsenal fans are wondering how to buy final tickets to the Champions League.
As it is, Arsenal has done a big job for the second leg, and Mikel Merino could be filled again as a makeshift striker.
The Spaniards have been fairly and very well since being moved into that role, but it is hardly ideal to rely on a positionless midfielder in such a critical game against such a top team.
