Arsenal is in the market for the new left winger. One of their main targets is Nico Williams from the athletic club. The 22-year-old seemed destined to join Barcelona instead, but recent developments could give hope to those who want Spanish International at the Emirates this summer.
It has been taken for granted that Williams would sign Barcelona last week when the summer transfer window opened in Spain on July 1st. Personal terms have been agreed and the LA Liga champions are ready to pay his release terms.
Barcelona had prepared themselves to pay Williams’ release clause this week, but now they could be forced to delay this.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s bid to sign Williams has stagnated. The reason for this is that the Catalan club is not satisfied with the registration request sought by the 22-year-old, and passed these after personal terms were agreed and signed off.
Barcelona believes the requests by Williams and his agents are unacceptable and as a result will not push forward with plans to trigger his release clause until a solution is reached. This means Arsenal still has an opportunity to be interested in signing the athletic club winger.
Williams’ arrival will be great news for Arsenal. Arsenal adds a new level of dynamism to the offense, along with the expected signature of the new striker. Barcelona is still my favorite, but there’s an opening where the gunners are swooped down and get a man if this impasse is dragged.
