The Indian Cricket Committee (BCCI) has decided to participate in the annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to be held in Dhaka on July 24th and 25th.
The Asian Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, the fate of the tournament is questionable due to ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly after the tragic attack on Pahargam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. In response, India began Operation Sindoor.
bcci effectively attended the ACC meeting, and Rajeev Shukla was appointed representative
Previously, the BCCI had decided to boycott the meeting due to the escalation of tensions between India and Bangladesh, and even ruled out staffing to Dhaka. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) also chose not to send delegations.

However, the BCCI confirmed that Rajeev Shukla will effectively attend the meeting on behalf of the board. Sri Lanka’s participation remains unknown, but previously suspicious Afghanistan and Oman are expected to exist now. Nepal will also be taking part in the meeting online.
The fate of the Asian Cup 2025 will be decided at the ACC Annual Meeting. In particular, the Bangladesh Cricket Committee (BCB) is holding a high-level ACC meeting for the first time.
It will become an important agenda item for the Asian Cup 2025 ACC Meeting
Future ACC meetings are set up to address the Asian Cup 2025. In particular, BCCI has hosting rights for the Asian Cup 2025. However, the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan could result in a match in September this year.
I doubt whether India agrees to face Pakistan. Following the fatal terrorist attacks in Pahargam, public calls have intensified to cut off all cricket ties with Pakistan.
In particular, the match for the Indian and Pakistan World Championships of Legends (WCL) 2025 has been cancelled. Due to social media backlash, there were several Indian legends, including Shikaldawan, Habhajansin, Irfan Pathan and Sureshreina, and they retreated just before the fixture.
The India-Pakistan clash remains a delicate issue in the Asian Cup. Even if they are placed in separate groups, the structure of the tournament can lead to meetings in the Super 4 stage or final.
We support logistics only – BCB President Aminuru Islam
According to ESPNcricinfo, BCB President Aminul Islam said Bangladesh’s Cricket Committee is only supporting logistics agreements for the upcoming ACC Annual General Meeting and is not involved in decisions regarding participation of the Member Committee.
“We have agreed to the ACC to organize this year’s AGM,” Aminul said Tuesday. “This is an ACC program. We provide logistics support to them. That’s it. We are in touch with the ACC. We have to arrange airport pickups, hotel reservations and other support so we know who is coming and who is not.”
