The cancelled world championship fixture between India and Pakistan has undergone a new turn as Pakistan champions refused to share equal match points with Indian champions after Pakistan’s champions were cancelled on Sunday.

A few hours later, an official confirmation was made as WCL officials cancelled the match and issued an apology to Indian players saying “unintentionally causing discomfort.”
Pakistani legend refuses to share equal points in WCL
According to some reports, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh and Pathan Brothers, among others, refused to be part of the match against Pakistan. However, Shikal Dhawan remained the only player to take a more formal approach to convey his thoughts to WCL authorities.
The refusal of Indian players came in the aftermath of the attacks of Pahargam Valley and the counterattack launched by the Indian government.
Some reports argued that Shahid Afridi’s mild remarks about the Indian army were one of the central reasons why Indian players retreated from their matchup with Pakistan.
According to a report from ANI, WCL authorities explained to the ECB why the match must be cancelled, and also reported that Pakistan was unhappy when asked to share two points with India.
From the perspective of Pakistani champions, it was India that retreated from the match, so they should be awarded all points.
“The WCL told the UK and Wales Cricket Committee that it was unable to play this match as organizers. The Indian champion team is not at fault. The Pakistan Champions team is not going to share any points as they say it is India that they supported.” WCL sources were told to ANI.
If a knockout scenario occurs, the WCL authority determines a further match
Previously, after the match was cancelled, Kamil Khan, the team owner of Pakistan Champions, issued a similar statement. He urged the team to award all points.
He also confirmed that for now there are no further changes to the schedule. However, if both Pakistan and India reach a knockout, it will be another point of discussion between the WCL authorities.
“If we reach the final, the decision regarding it will be made after that. And for this match, two points will be awarded to us and we deserve those points according to the rules,” Kamil said.
