Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are eager to sign athletic club Bilbao midfielder Oyhan Sunset at the end of the season.
According to a report by Fichajes, they will also face competition with Aston Villa.
Sancet has done very well for Bilbao in recent seasons, and he has proven to be a quality addition. He’s been called a “game changer” by his teammates.
However, the player has a release clause of 80 million euros on his contract, which can complicate the issues for teams hoping to sign him. Tottenham and Liverpool may not be able to afford to pay the Spaniards 80 million euros, as they will need to improve other areas of their team as well.
Meanwhile, the midfielder has 14 goals and three assists in his name this season, making him an essential asset for the LA La Liga club. They wouldn’t want to lose him easily, and it would be fair to assume that clubs hoping to sign him must trigger his release clause.
Players were linked to Liverpool before the January window.
Oihan Sancet is a quality signature
Liverpool will need to add more goals in the middle, and Sunset will be an ideal addition. He adds goals and creativity to the aspects.
Similarly, Tottenham needs reinforcements in that area of the pitch. James Madison is sometimes very inconsistent and with increasing competition for locations it helps the Spurs improve as a team.
Which of the two clubs is willing to pay the player the asking price?
Aston Villa can also use mid-field reinforcements, but paying the asking price is not easy. They are currently seeking European qualifications and it will be interesting to see if they can finish the season strongly. They will need income from European qualifications this summer to attract top quality athletes.
