New reports from Turkish media say Aston Villa is reportedly ready to say goodbye to World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for a transfer fee of just 20 million euros.
The development has been a surprise to many, especially considering Martinez’s reputation has grown since its arrival at Villa Park.
The 31-year-old has become a central figure in both the club and country, playing a pivotal role in Argentina’s Copa America and the 2022 World Cup victory.
His performance has been consistently praised for his consistent performance by the club.
Galatasaray wants Aston Villa Star Martinez
According to Futbol Arena, Turkish giant Galatasaray is one of the clubs interested in securing Martinez’s services, as broadcast by Sport Witness.
The Super Rig Champion is expected to lose longtime number one Fernando Musler who could return to Uruguay for personal reasons.
Galatasaray has set the sight on Martinez as a potentially well-known alternative, with journalist Ali Naci Küçük saying Villa is open to accepting offers of between 20 million and 25 million euros.
However, interest in Martinez is not limited to Türkiye. European giants such as Barcelona, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are said to be closely monitoring the situation.
The goalkeeper is also linked to the transition to Saudi Arabia.
Gary Neville called the Aston Villa goalkeeper a “giant character” of Sky Sports.
Emery has identified his transfer target
The player’s villa was aiming to replace Martinez with the club this summer. Real Madrid goalkeeper Andri Irunin spends most of his time on the Madrid bench due to the presence of Thibaut Krutt in the team.
Along with Martinez, his villa teammate Leon Bailey is also linked to the move to the Middle East as the winger is not part of UNAI Emery’s future plans at the club.
