Aston Villa reportedly has to pay heavily to seal the transfer of Crystal Palace, which will attack Crystal Palace midfielder Ebeki Eze this summer.
Villa is linked as one of Eze’s clubs in this upcoming transfer window, according to the Birmingham Mail, which added that England International isn’t cheap.
Although not explicitly stated in the report, this means that the Palace will fully request Eze’s release clause. This means he will spend £68 million on villas and other clubs of interest.
Eagles fans hope this will defer the club’s attempts to sign a good player, Eze, but it’s clearly not the cheapest option on the market.
Is Eberechi Eze really worth it?
While it’s not easy to judge the true market value of a player, TransferMarkt estimates he is currently worth 55 million euros (46.8 million), he used to cost 60 million euros (51 million pounds).
The 26-year-old has contributed 15 goals and 11 assists in all club and country competitions of the season.
If Eze is 1-2 years old, £68 million would probably look like a bargain, but honestly, it’s hard to know exactly when a player reaches peak.
If Eze continues to play as well as the next four years, most clubs will probably consider £68 million as a decent investment, but he is still not worth resale.
Can Aston Villa buy Eze?
Villa has recently done some smart jobs in the transfer market, which seems too much to them.
We’ve seen Midlands outfits have to be sold in the last few years to buy, so funding for this deal might be too expensive in terms of players they have to let go.
However, the situation can change if the palace is willing to negotiate, but there seems to be little reason for the South Londoners to do it with such a key player.
