Aston Villa hopes to sign a new striker this summer whether Ollie Watkins stays or goes. And given their well-documented PSR distress, it’s no surprise that a low-cost option to arrive at Villa Park in the coming weeks will arrive.
So far, it has been a quiet transfer window for Aston Villa, with goalkeeper Marco Bizotto being the only recognized addition to Unai Emery’s team. It appears that a large amount of money is needed to make a quality signature, but in the meantime, club officials are considering market opportunities.
And one of them is the familiar face who scored twice for Villa Park in the past few seasons.
Aston Villa moves to sign Dominique Calvert Lewin
According to The Sun (via FootballFancast), Aston Villa is interested in free agent Dominic Calvert Truwin after leaving Everton earlier this month. The 28-year-old, who has been linked to Man United in recent weeks, is a serious target for last season’s Champions League quarterfinalists and has already been in talks with his representatives.
Aston Villa wants to find a request for Calvert Lewin’s contract. That’s why we’ve been contacted for the past few weeks. There have been no concrete efforts yet to be made to sign, but that could change in the near future.
As far as backup striker options go, Calvert Lewin will be a solid addition to Emery’s team. It was only four years ago that Everton managed 21 goals in his season. So, if he can return to these levels, he will become an invaluable asset.
