Jammu and Kashmir Fast Bowler Auqib Nabi have history with the Duleep Trophy with their epic performances of the North Zone in the ongoing quarterfinals at the BCCI Center of Excellence Ground held in Bengaluru on Friday, August 29th.
Baramulla’s 28-year-old Payker surprised everyone with his chin-dropping hat trick and joined the elite list of Indian legends like Kapil Dev. Nabi reached the milestone in 53 of the East Zone innings in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2025 quarterfinals held in Bengaluru on Friday.

Auqib Nabi wreaked havoc on the batting lineup in the East Zone with his record hat trick. Suraj Jaiswal was caught by Northzone wicketkeeper Kanhaiya Wadawan for 10 minutes before Manishi was locked in his legs for a golden duck, and Mukhtar Hussein was also cleaned up by a golden duck.

His great spell also saw him dismiss East Zone batter Virat Singh and veteran Pacer Mohammed Shami for just one person, as he finished with an incredible five-wicket haul.
Previously, Nabi demonstrated his batting skills by getting 44 quick 44 balls from 33 balls in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2025 quarterfinals at the BCCI Center of Excellence Ground by his team, North Zone, to support 405 posts 405 in the first innings against the East Zone.
auqib nabi achieves a rare feat with the Durep Trophy
By firing Kanhaiya Wadawan, Manishi and Mukhtar Hussein for consecutive delivery, Aukiv Navi becomes the third bowler in Durep Trophy history to score hat-tricks, joining legendary Kapil Dev and Sairaj Bahru.
Captain Kapildev, who won the 1983 World Cup, was the first captain to reach this milestone. The legendary all-around achieved this feat while representing the North Zone against the West Zone at Ferosshakotra in Delhi during the 1978/79 season.

Sairaj Bahutule then repeated this achievement for the West Zone against the East Zone at Nehru Stadium in Pune in the 2000/01 season.

Auqib Nabi shines in the domestic cricket format
Meanwhile, Auqib Nabi has emerged as one of India’s most promising fast bowlers. In just 29 first class matches, the 28-year-old bowler bowled nearly 4,000 deliveries, taking 90 wickets on an impressive average of 22.12, with the highest numbers of 6/53 and 10/74.
His wicket came with a close economic rate of 2.98 and a strike rate of 44.4. Navi also insisted on carrying eight five wickets and two ten wickets in red ball cricket. He was also impressive in a shorter form. In a 29 List A match, Nabi scored 42 wickets on a strong average of 28.88.
Nabi’s economic rate is 5.07, with a strike rate of 34.1 highlighting its ability to consistently plague batters in the shorter form of the game. In the same match, Mohammed Shami scalped only one wicket, admitting 100 runs in 23 overs against the Northzone in the first innings.
