Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James is in his 23rd season in the NBA.
LeBron James officially holds a record for most seasons played, beyond the 22 seasons played by Vince Carter.
James entered his 23rd season at age 40, turning 41 in December, but playing at the Los Angeles Lakers All-Star level.
This kind of longevity has never been seen before as James tries to win his fifth NBA title with the help of Luka Donsic and Austin Reeves.
James is an incredible achievement to perform as long as he has, and perhaps not topped for a while.
James joined the league seeing many young players born around the same time they were drafted in 2003. He includes son Bronnie James, born in 2004 and now a Lakers teammate.
James achieved all the NBA appearances. Reaves shared this with the young man on a Three Podcast.
“There’s literally no other reason why he keeps playing basketball, in my opinion. He’s the best player to touch basketball.
“He probably retired six years ago, but people will still say the same thing.
“He has enough money. He has enough money, regardless of what he said on that podcast the other day.
“The only reason he still plays basketball is because he loves grind. He loves the game. He wants to continue to be better. Even if you know you’re at that level, there are still times when you think he can work to become a better player.
“I think that’s the most incredible thing about him.”
James could probably play for the next five years, but the reality is that his time in the league is coming to an end soon.
James reiterated that the end of his NBA career is nearing the end, and he said he has already not been waiting for his other son, Bryce James, to enter the league.
James is set to become an unlimited free agent next summer as all arrows point to last season with the Lakers.
But with a subtle hint that he’s down, this could be James’ final year in the league.
