MANSHETER, England — Wallaros launched in emphasised fashion, highlighting the women’s Rugby World Cup campaign with a 73-0 victory over Samoa on Saturday.
This victory is Australia’s biggest World Cup.
They were heavy favorites caught up in the collision, but Australia hit the ground against the powerful Samoan outfit running in Manchester.
Hooker Katarina Amosa scored in two minutes and was one-way traffic from there.
18-year-old fullback Kaitlyn Halse became the youngest Australian to play in the Women’s Rugby World Cup, marking the opportunity with two tries.
Desiree Miller put the tournament marker down with a hat trick in the first half. The third try came from an excellent set-play from the scrum, where the left winger ran to the right and scored.
Prime Minister Emily, Eva Kalpani and Samantha Wood also tried it out in the opening 40 minutes.
Perhaps the most enjoyable thing for manager Joe Yap is her defensive efforts. Australia met the physical Samoan side, but their defense worked well as they took the lead 45-0.
Samoa came out much stronger in the second half, spending quite a bit of time within Australia’s territory. Wallaloo’s discipline in the breakdown hurt them, but Samoa couldn’t find a way.

Australia finally found the field again and Cecilia Smith earned her side over 50 points, rewarding her work in the middle.
Adiana Talakai then scored behind the lineout drive, and the second attempt with five minutes remaining, earning a previous record margin of 62 points against South Africa in 2010, while Samoa continued to fight hard.
Halse concluded the surprising afternoon for herself and her part with her second attempt to close the match.
