Pep Guardiola threatens to quit Man City with squad size
The Bruce ended the 2024/25 season with Etihad on Tuesday night, beating AFC Bournemouth 3-1. City will have their final away game against Fulham on Sunday to ensure they are in the Champions League next season, but Pep Guardiola is a campaign that he wants to forget pretty soon.

Following Manchester City’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, they are in the cusp of Champions League qualifying, along with the Sky Blues “Maverick” star.
Given the poor start to the season, City spent big in January to increase the chances of strengthening the second half of the campaign. It didn’t go completely to plan, and now towards summer, Guardiola makes it clear that he would leave the city if the club didn’t mow the team, as he didn’t want to see the players in the stands.
Guardiola told Sky Sports via the BBC: “I told the club that I don’t want that (larger teams); I don’t want to leave five or six players in the freezer. I don’t want that. I don’t stop. I’ll make a short team. I’ll stay.
“It’s impossible to say (say) that my soul can’t play on my player (stands) in the Tribune.”
Man City fights Liverpool for Kerkes
Guardiola hopes to shorten his city team, but Blues Hierarchy may have other ideas. According to INEWS, Man City wants to sign Milos Kerkez of AFC Bournemouth.
Liverpool was considered a front runner to sign left back. They have already discussed with players about their move to Anfield, but have yet to offer to transfer. City has inquired about signing Kerquez and is now considered “a real rival for his signature.”
The fact that Liverpool hasn’t made the offer keeps the door open for City, who is considering bringing in a new left back, as Guardiola wants the specialist player to play in that position. The next sports director, Hugo Viana, is understood to be a fan of Kerkez.
Called “Madman” by teammate Marcus Tavernier, Kerquez is said to be valued at £45 million by Cherry, and will allow players to leave while the price tag is fulfilled until the summer of 2028.
The 21-year-old has been in Bournemouth since the summer of 2023, and in his two years in the Premier League he has gained many admirers from left-back, a direct offensive style that thrives on teams like Man City and Liverpool.
