According to El Nacional, Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta has been obsessed with bringing Manchester City striker Erling Haaland to the club, and he and his peers are sure that at some point in the future.
Haaland, 25, was a natural hit with a 2022 participation in Borussia Dortmund City for 60 million euros. In his first season at Etihad, he broke Premier League records with most goals scored in a 38-game season on the UK’s top flight. He remains a fatal terrifying event for today’s defenders, as he proved with a great goal in the Manchester Derby on Sunday.
Of course, Barcelona is looking for a long-term alternative to 37-year-old Robert Lewandowski. The Norwegian international lined up next to Raminyamal and Rafinha is a delicious outlook, and Laporta’s desire to make it happen is completely understandable.
But earlier this year, Haaland signed a new contract with City, which is in effect until the summer of 2034. It’s hard to imagine Barcelona generating the money the Premier League will spend on considering selling at any point in the near future.
