One of the longest-running promotions at MMA will pay the highest award in Brazilian MMA history in 2025.
Jungle Fight announced on Monday that it will host two tournaments to crown “King of the Jungle” and “Queen of the Jungle,” starting with an eight-person lightweight tournament starting June 14th in Brasilia, Brazil. The promotion has yet to reveal the date for the women’s flyweight grand prize.
Tournament winners will be paid R $500,000 (almost USD 90,000), the highest wage in Brazilian MMA history. Lightweight matchups are Carlos Alexandre Da Costa vs Lucas Campos, Marcelo Medeiros vs Brunogimares Santos, Eriwellton Trabassos vs Arcanguero Angel and Jorge Silva vs Clayton Moria.
Jungle Fight has signed a massive television deal with Globo, the largest network in Latin America and former longtime partner of the domestic UFC. Globo Airs Jungle Fight Title Bouts will be aired live on network television and full cards will be aired and fought on SportV. No transactions have been revealed.
“The night in which two fighters win a total of $1 million,” the Jungle, founder, President Walid Ismail, said following Saturday’s event. “It’s going to be incredible. Imagine how happy I am to be able to pay these warriors this enormous amount. They deserve it.”
Ismail’s latest event, Jungle Fight 136, aired on Globo on Saturday night, with Laura Vasconcelos stopping Laura Fontula in just over three minutes to defend the strawweight championship in the main event. Vanderlei Gonçalves integrated co-headliner Anderson Nascimento with their welterweight belt in their second TKO.
