Irish cricket wasn’t expecting a home season this time. They have played in several home season games, with four of their first eight games being washed away by the rain. Sunday’s meet with England marks Ireland’s ninth final home match in the summer of 2025.

“There are still a few variables that we need to know before locking the final schedule, but we’ll host Test cricket next year,” McNeese said.

Brian McNeese, chairman of Ireland’s Cricket Committee, confirmed that he would make the proposal for the two division ICC World Test Championship, which will feature Ireland in several red ball matches “very supportive.”

The ICC proposed two division formats: the ICC World Test Championship. This ranks other teams alongside the top 10 ranked test sides in the world. However, the two-tier system is not accepted by major cricket boards.
