The Indian Cricket Committee (BCCI) is ready to resume the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) after a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.
However, as the government will need to nod to the reopening of IPL 2025, the decision is not entirely in the hands of the BCCI, and the board will consult with the government and all stakeholders before making the final call.

BCCI will call about IPL 2025 reopening after consulting with all stakeholders: DevajitSaikia
On May 10, India and Pakistan agreed to a full ceasefire in the evening after four days of intense cross-border military action. When that happened, several BCCI officials spoke about the resumption of the Marquee Indian Premier League (IPL).
BCCI Director Devajit Saikia said he is closely monitoring the evolving situation and will consult with relevant authorities within the next 48 hours before announcing the continuation date for IPL 2025.
“BCCI suspended IPL for seven days yesterday. Today is the second day with five more days remaining. BCCI is closely monitoring the evolving situation and development, and after consulting with all stakeholders of the IPL and relevant government authorities, we call for the reopening of the IPL.
In particular, India’s Premier League 2025 was suspended for a week due to tensions that crossed the Indian-Pakistan border, the latter launched a co-ill attack. There are only 16 games left in the ongoing IPL season, including the playoffs, and it may take about two weeks of windows to complete.
Venue dates and everything needs to be resolved: Arun Dhumal
Indian Premier League (IPL) president Arun Dhumal has revealed that he is investigating the possibility of IPL 2025 reopening soon.
He added that they need to get a quick grasp of the date, venue and everything else before making the official announcement, but said government approval is key.
“The ceasefire has just been announced. We are now looking for the possibility of reopening the IPL and closing it. If we can implement it soon…
“We need to get the dates and everything settled on the venue, and now we’re going to talk to all the stakeholders, including the team owners, the broadcasters and all involved, and find a way to move forward. Most importantly, we’ll have to talk to the government.”
Which schedule will be the best time to complete a tournament: Rajeev Shukla
Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of India’s Cricket Committee (BCCI), has also deleted an official statement on the issue.
He said discussions between BCCI office bearers and the IPL Operating Council about the reopening of the tournament will take place on Sunday, where the schedule will be finalized.
“The war has stopped. In the new situation, the BCCI bearers, officials and the IPL governing council will discuss and call the issue tomorrow (Sunday).
One thing to note here is that it will be interesting to see how Pakistan violates the ceasefire agreement shortly after the tensions were declared over, and how it will affect the situation around IPL 2025.
