India’s Cricket Committee (BCCI) Chief Devajit Saikia has issued an official statement on a recent report suggesting that Team India could withdraw from the upcoming ACC tournament. Saikia said there has been no discussion at any level regarding withdrawals from the ACC tournament.
According to an Indian Express report, BCCI has informed the Asian Cricket Council of its intention to break out of two tournaments, including the women’s emerging team Asia Cup. The Men’s Asian Cup is scheduled for September, with India being the designated host.

However, the BCCI has denied any media speculation regarding skipping upcoming Asian Cricket Council events. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said there was no discussion about such a withdrawal and called the report baseless.

“Since this morning, we have come to notice about several news items regarding the BCCI’s decision not to participate in the Asian Cup and the Women’s Emerging Team Asia Cup, both of which are ACC events. No such news has taken such measures or made any such measures or written to the ACC in the past regarding the ACC events.
“At this stage, our main focus will be on the ongoing IPL and the subsequent England series, both male and female,” a BCCI official further said.
