England wins an epic test
England won a toss and changed with philosophy in mind, they chose to hit first. The Bazball approach was nowhere to be seen in the first innings as England scored 387 in 112.3 overs with a 3.44 run percentage. Joe Root came to the top with a 104-run knock, with Jamie Smith and Brydon Kurth reaching the 50s.
On the ball, Chris Walks (3/84), Jofra Archer (2/52), Ben Stokes (2/63), Shoaib Bashir (1/59) and Brydon Kurse (1/88) bowled well, but India’s score was comparable to a score of 387.
Meanwhile, in two innings with the bats, England had a lot of trouble with the Indian bowling force, bowling 192 with 62.1 overs on the fourth day.
To protect the target, the English Bowling Unit did an exceptional job and regularly got wickets to reduce India to 112/8. The UK was then troubled by Rabindra Jadeha, Jasplit Bumra and Mohammed Siraj, but they managed to bowl India for 170 years.
What a great job to overcome overs – Ben Stokes welcomes Jofra Archer
Ben Stokes won the Match Award for sensational all-round performances (44, 2/63, 33, 3/48) in his main test match against India.
After the match, Ben Stokes spoke to Michael Atherton and revealed why he chose to open his bowling on the fifth day despite Bridon Kurse’s fiery spell on the fourth day. Ben Stokes explained in detail:
“It was (an extraordinary finish). It was actually part of the reason I went with JOF and me this morning, one of those feelings, and up until that day, six years (2019 WC Win).. JOF had one of the feelings that he did something special and opened the game with two wickets and cracked the game.”
“It wasn’t an easy call. We discussed a bit in the dressing room. Brydon (Kurth) had a great spell last night. He recharged and had a great rhythm, but it was a gut feeling, but JOF’s first match goes back to the test team and sometimes your gut works. Some important wickets.”
Ben Stokes confirms Shoaib Bashir has broken his finger
Ben Stokes further confirmed that spinner Shoaib Bashir broke his finger and was excluded from Manchester’s Test match.
“I thought I’d taken myself to a rather dark place before, but today I bowled to win a Test match in your country.
Ultimately, Ben Stokes spoke about how he had a big time in his Master Test match. Ben Stokes said the surprising direct hit he produced to send back Rishabh Pants had charged him, and then he made the most of the opportunities he got as an all-around and worked well in his country. He explained in detail:
“What was it today, and I was in the queue, which was a little different because there was more cricket yesterday. To be honest, yesterday, I pulled myself.
“I’m an all-rounder. There are four opportunities to influence the game. One of the great things about being rounded is that if one thing doesn’t click completely, you have the other. I bowled an important spell.
“For the majority of the game, Rishabh played really well. We all know how dangerous he is. That wicket this morning was big and Jofra was the guy who does it. That’s always been and two very good teams went to toe in this game.
