Arsenal central midfielder Martin Zvimendi has made a huge impact since joining the Gunners this summer, and last night was arguably his best game for the club.
Zvimendi won huge plaudits for his impressive performance in Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, featuring in midfield.
Soccer statistics expert Statman Dave posted on X showing how Spain international Zvimendi excelled in every department in last night’s match.
See post below. It shows that Zvimendi completed 41 of 46 passes, created one big chance, completed 100% of his crosses, made two tackles and two interceptions.
This is truly outstanding from Zvimendi. Similar to Rodri’s peak at Manchester City, he looks set to help take Arsenal to a new level with the way he controls games in midfield.
Martin Zvimendi shined at Arsenal and reminded Liverpool of what they missed
Zvimendi’s form at Arsenal will be painful for Liverpool fans to watch now, but many will remember how close the Reds were to signing the former Real Sociedad player.
In the summer of 2024, The Times reported that Zubimendi had turned down Liverpool. A year later he became an Arsenal player.
Mikel Arteta’s team is currently in great form, but Liverpool have lost four consecutive games in all competitions.
It was clear how much a player like Zvimendi could have helped Arne Slott’s side, especially during their home game against Manchester United at the weekend, when they appeared to have virtually no midfield left.
Ryan Gravenbirch performed very well for LFC, but perhaps too much is being asked of him after Alexis Mac Allister’s decline in form and without Trent Alexander-Arnold stepping in as an extra midfielder like he did before his departure.
