Arsenal has bid for Brentford defensive midfielder Christian Norgaard and is reportedly waiting for a response from his club.
The experienced Danish International has been a key player for Brentford in his six seasons with the club, and it appears he is getting attention as the replacement for Thomas Party.
That’s because his contract is gone and he’ll be free agent next week, according to a report by David Ornstein for Athletics.
The report says Arsenal provided Brentford with £9.3 million to Norgaard.
Christian Norgaard could become a handy team player for Arsenal
Even if Norgaard does look like a player who doesn’t necessarily come soon and improve Arsenal’s starting lineup, he could certainly be a useful addition to something cheap.
The 31-year-old is only a relatively short-term option, but if you lose a part, you can give the gunners much needed depth.
Brentford certainly doesn’t want to sell key players at a low price, but this may be his last chance to cash in on Norgaard considering his age.
Christian Norgaard received great praise from Thomas Frank
When he signed the new contract this March, Norgaard was given some great praise from Thomas Frank.
“Christian has been an integral part of the incredible journey we have taken over the past six years. He is our club captain and one of our most important players,” Frank told the club’s official website.
“His ability to sense danger and intercept him is on a very high level, just like his ability to advance on the first or second touch.
“When I first coached Christian, he was No. 10. Now he’s one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.”
