The Golden State Warriors chose not to select Jonathan Kuminga again.
Steve Kerr is stuck with his choice and has chosen to overlook Jonathan Cuminga for the Golden Warriors, opening a playoff game.
Like the end-of-season game with the LA Clippers and the play-in tournament game with the Memphis Grizzlies, Jonathan Kuminga was DNP.
And then Steve Kerr justified his call with the Warriors winning the Grizzlies and their road playoff opener against the Houston Rockets.
Overlooked Jonathan Cuminga speculated that he would leave the Golden State Warriors in the offseason.
Kendrick Perkins was one of those who demanded that Steve Kerr make a call to Kuminga for the playoffs.
Golden State emerged as a 95-85 winner in a low-score contest despite struggling with his own three-point shooting.
Talking about his podcast, Bill Simmons asked the Warriors who haven’t called Jonathan Kuminga again, compared to Quinten Post.
Simmons said: “I think it’s hard to believe that Kuminga won’t be able to play this team’s game for 12 minutes. I think it’s hard to believe that he wasn’t better than the number of 12Quinten posts.”
Co-host Ryen Russillo fought back: “Do you need to postpone this to Carr?”
Simmons replied: “I got it, so I’ll tweet it. I’m just hesitant. But at least with Kuminga, he’s not afraid, he’ll exercise and he’ll fight.
“What would this look like if you’re playing OKC in the series, just like they have a guy where you like?”
Prior to the series’ opening game, Steve Kerr defended decision-making and admitted that he thought Kuminga would not be able to play alongside Jimmy Butler.
Butler played a game-high 42 minutes for the warriors and left no space for Kuminga.
As the series progresses and the playoffs progress, the Warriors may need to use Butler more efficiently and potentially open up space for Kuminga.
Nevertheless, Richard Jefferson recently said that if any series comes back to Game Seven, Kuminga is likely to return as a DNP.
