UFC star Beau Nikkal returned to freestyle wrestling on Saturday night with a real American Freestyle 1.
He faced two Michigan NCAA national Jacob Caldenas and took part in the co-main event of his first Real American Freestyle event. Nikkal’s match was his first freestyle match since losing to David Taylor in the 2020 Team USA Olympic Trial.
Also in RAF 1, Wyatt Hendrickson headed out, Holly Holm intervened in a short time for a wrestling match, and Kyle Dake won his match.
Bo Nikkal tops Jacob Cardenas
Bo Nickal, who suffered the loss of his first pro MMA in May to raise De Ridder, returned to form after popping into the early lead in the first period. After a quick duck, Nikkar’s lead was not abandoned until the third term.
The NCAA National Champion’s three-time Nikkal took time to score, but when he shot it was clear that Nikkal could still wrestled at a very high level. However, Nikkal hasn’t rolled Jacob Cardenas.
Cardenas came back with a score higher and took the lead in the third season in less than a minute, looking for a leg race to accumulate points. But Nickal, like everyone on the card experienced, got a comeback, pinned Cardenas and got him on board to win.
In his postwar speech with Chael Sonnen, Bo Nickal admitted that he felt slow but was still happy with his victory at the RAF. He went on to say, “I’m Dion Sanders from combat sports.”
Nikkal also said he intends to compete in the RAF again.
The RAF was delivered from top to bottom, with some of the biggest names in wrestling appearing to face off against other great names in combat sports. Yes, former boxing and UFC world champion Holly Holm, who abdicated Ronda Rousey, wore singlets and wrestling shoes to take on Alejandra Rivera on a day’s notice.
Rivera was originally planning to take on Kennedy Braides before Braides was kicked out with an injury. Early on, he jumped to a 4-0 lead with a staircase holm. The crowds at Walstein Center were all standing up, as if the first period had ended.
Rivera roared back to take the lead, not before Holm threw his head and arm to score another takedown. But in the end, Holm dropped her first freestyle match with a respectable 9-7 score.
Wyatt Hendrickson, Kyle Dake, Sarah Hildebrandt
In the main event, NCAA champion Wyatt Hendrickson took on the elders of Mostafa at the Egyptian heavyweight Olympics. “Captain America” rolled over members of the heavyweight Olympic team and tanked towards eight unanswered points in the first period.
Hendrickson acquired almost the skill in his first period, but the elders were saved by Bell. Hendrickson closed out the elders early in his second term, earning his skill with a massive 14-1 score.
Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hildebrandt took over Zeltskin Hernandez and came out from his retirement at RAF 1. Hildebrandt, who won the gold medal at the 2024 Olympics, ran through Hernandez and recorded a tech decline in the third term.
Four-time Freestyle World champion Kyle Dake won the match against Dean Hamiti 11-0 on Tech Fall. Real Woods defeated MMA fighter Darion Caldwell in the second fall, with Evanwick defeating Jason Norf and Austin Gomez also defeated former PFL champion Lance Palmer.
