Los Angeles right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller has moved into a minor relief role, according to manager Dave Roberts.
“I think this might be something that unleashes him,” Roberts said Sunday. “Try hard for a short period of time to gain confidence for him. It can help us here.”

At just 26 years old, Miller is considered the person who can become a productive piece on the pitching roster for the next few years.
However, this season, Miller has allowed seven runs in five innings and currently has a 5.58 ERA in Triple A Oklahoma City. The right-hander was removed just two years from his rookie season, finishing with him 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA on 22 starts and getting a nod as the NLDS Game 2 starter.
The 2024 campaign had only one walk and no run won, but it could quickly go south for the younger pitchers. On the second start, shoulder complications forced Miller to miss more than two months of action, and the remaining 10 starts were easy to forget at best, and at that point he posted a 9.34 ERA.
2025 was considered his comeback year, but it started with a horrifying moment for Miller.
During the first match of spring training, Miller was hit with a 105.5 mph line drive directly to his head. Luckily, Miller left the field on his own and entered concussion protocol.
Perhaps the new releaser role is positive for Miller, and he can continue to work to regain the magic of his 2023 campaign.
