The Golden State Warriors have flapped up from the NBA playoffs at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Warriors beat the Houston Rockets in seven games in the first round of the Western Conference to win Game 1 in the semi-final against the Timberwolves.
Unfortunately, Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury and did not play in any of the following four consecutive losses.
Bobby Marks and Kendrick Perkins recently spoke about what the Warriors need to add in the offseason to compete next year.
Perkins pointed out that all of the conference finals have big, quality men, which is the Warriors’ biggest weakness.
Steve Kerr handed over a few minutes to the posts of Trace Jackson Davis, Kevon Rooney and Quinten, but none of them ideally were in the playoff rotation.
Perkins urged the Warriors to address this issue in the summer so they could compete for the 2025-26 season.
“I think they’re missing out on something big right now,” Perkins explained. “They need someone to get out there and get 15 points and 12 rebounds per night.
“Think about all the teams that still play, the Knicks have the town of Karl Anthony, Indiana has Miles Turner, and obviously Denver has the Jokic.
“We have to take someone in the middle, not defensively. Dynamic Roller. When was Steph the last time he played with Rob’s threat?”
Marks believes the Warriors are likely to chase Milwaukee Bucks Center’s Brook Lopez in free agency.
Despite being 37 years old, Lopez is a solid NBA player, averaging 13 points this season, and should be relatively cheap.
“One of the players who keep an eye on the location of that center is Brook Lopez,” Marks said. “The Stanford alumni have his home in Fresno. What are the numbers in the flyer for the past year to patch this center’s location?
“Centre market is thin. Looking at Miles Turner, you probably can’t afford him.
Perkins replied: “I don’t think it will move the needle. Brooke Lopez still loves to hang out at the boundary line. I don’t think he’s averaged five (per game) for his career. I need Daniel Gafford, that type of athleticism, what will his ticket look like?”
