Brad Tavares played a dominant show against Gerald Mershaert at UFC Vegas 105 on Saturday night, becoming one of the most wondrous fighters in UFC middleweight history.
A big straight hand from Tavares encouraged Meerschaert to rush to the fence, but it didn’t take long for Tavares to separate and return to the center of Octagon. Less than a minute to get to the first place, Tavares landed several more right hands.
Putting Meerschaert on the mat wasn’t enough, but he definitely scored him 10-9 on the scorecard.
Meerschaert seemed to get his grab in the second stanza, but Tavares’ work in the clinch and his critical speed advantage quickly stepped out of the range of his enemy’s attack, causing Tavares to continue his fight.
Desperate to speed up the battle on the ground, Meerschaert fired and secured a body lock against the fence. Despite his best efforts, Meerschaert was unable to make Tavares muscular and muscular on the mat, and was 0/8 on Takedown’s attempt.
Judge Mike Bertran separated the fighter after a minute due to inactivity. Meerschaert hit his path inside again and brought Tavares back to the fence, but he was unable to achieve anything worth noting. Tavares separated himself in 10 seconds to go out into the fight, and managed to get past the rest of the round and took him to the scorecard as it should be a very obvious unanimous decision.
