Bradley Beal couldn’t believe that Mike Budenholzer wanted him to play a lesser role like the Boston Celtics champion.
The Phoenix Sands had a devastating season. After nearly 50 wins last year, the Suns were expected to compete in the championship this season.
Instead, their season ended overwhelmingly with a 36-46 record. The Suns began their cleanup process and fired Mike Budenholzer yesterday with a candid and surprising decision.
Budenholzer appears to have hinted at his recent ending tenure for the Sons. This is an unsurprising decision given the issues he faced this season.
One of the players he had the most trouble checking was Bradley Beal. And one of his instructions seems to be very upset with his former All-Star.

NBA insider Chris Haynes has destroyed the Suns’ decision to fire Mike Budenholzer. He noted that there is a lot of internal conflict in the locker room.
One major turning point in the relationship between Budenholzer and Bradley Beal was the former demand that Beal play a Jrue Holdday type role.
“One thing I can point out is his communication and how he conveyed his message. League sources told me that Coach Budenholzer met with Bradley Beal earlier this season.
“When I was talking to the Bradley Beal caliber guy, it wasn’t well received, and it’s not the type of player he is.
“So I asked him to change the game and change it, and on top of that, Jrue Holiday says that anyone whose coach Budenholzer won the championship at Milwaulkee, it wasn’t well-rated.”

It is unfair to blame things on one player when a team like the Phoenix Suns fails so devastatingly. But the majority of the Sands problems come from the acquisition of Bradley Beale.
Beal is a great All-Star scorer, but he is defensively responsible. And the Sun was already a defensively weak team.
Adding Beal further strengthened their defensive weakness, causing many issues with the Sun. In addition to that, there was Mike Budenholzer’s employment.
The sun should start from scratch. Kevin Durant’s deal will mark the beginning of their massive restructuring and redemption path.
