Brendan Allen and Marvin Bettori appear to calm some bad blood between them when the middleweights collide on the UFC 318 card on July 19th from New Orleans.
Several people with knowledge of the promotional plan confirmed the news of the MMA fight on Wednesday following the initial report from MMA Mania.
The battle between Allen and Vetri is the culmination of a long, boiled rivalry that dates back when they were originally scheduled to return to the UFC Vegas 90. Unfortunately, Betri was kicked out of the card, but after a light da between the two fighters, which only increased from there, the fight did not occur.
The two continued their trash stories until they were actually caught up in a scuffle at the casino during a PFL event in Florida.
Now they’ll look to resolve the difference in cages as both fighters are about to bounce back from recent losses.
Allen rattles seven wins in a row before making consecutive decisions to Nassourdine Imavov and Anthony Hermandez, while Vettori has made two consecutive outings 1-3 in the past four outings, one for Roma’s Drizze and Jared Cannonier.
The fight also served as a homecoming for Allen, born and raised in Louisiana, and actually began working with Dustin Poillier, the headliner of UFC 318.
