The first trade in the NBA offseason is here before the final is completed.

After the crazy midseason trade deadline, more enthusiastic activity is forecast in the upcoming free agency period.

And with the NBA draft approaching, the team is already debating the deal, but now it’s the first one between the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic, the latter of which has won Desmond Bain.

Details of the trade between Orlando Magic and the Memphis Grizzlies:

  • Orlando’s magic receives: Desmond Bain
  • Memphis Grizzlies Received: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, 2025 Firstround Pick (ORL, #16), 2026 FirstRound Pick (PHX), 2028 FirstRound Pick (ORL), 2030 FirstRound Pick (ORL), 2029 FirstRound Pick-Swap.

Orlando Magic paid a steep price to get Desmond Bain.

NBA insider Brian Windhorst said he thought ESPN was going to happen last season, and the magic was postponed for some sort of move.

“The magic has required more attacks for a year. In fact, when they were paying for their books it was a bit mystical that they didn’t make a deal in the midseason.”

Windhorst believes the real reason trade is “high” in value is because Kentavia Caldwell Pope actually counts as a negative.

He explained: “They will also trade Kentavia Caldwell Pope. You must consider this deal as offloading Desmond Bain as well as offloading Kentavia Caldwell Pope’s contract.

“He’s owed $43 million over the next two years, so some of what he’s paying on those picks is not just for Bane, but also offloading what’s considered a bad deal.”

Windhorst said that since Kevin Durant is expected to be traded by Phoenix Suns, it is impossible to make a true comparison from the perspective of the two magazines.

“He (Caldwell-Pope) is definitely the worst season of his career, certainly for years, he’s on a two-year contract.

So if you just had a trade and just trade Caldwell Pope, you probably had to pay for it in the first round pick and half.

“It’s part of that, I think it’s a bit rich, but I don’t think you can compare it straight to Durant (and I know that people are trying to lead.”

Brian Windhorst previously said there is a 98% chance that Kevin Durant will be traded by the Phoenix Suns.

According to the latest report, Durant claims he prefers one of the San Antonio Spurs, the Houston Rockets and the Miami Heat as his next destination.

There is also interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors. The Toronto Raptors are considering Durant’s short-term moves, both in the latter stages of his career.

A solution is predicted in some way quickly, and Desmond Bain’s trade shows that there is indeed time for trading.
