Brian Battle has no excuses for back-to-back weight mistakes.
After not making weight due to a welterweight collision with Randy Brown in December, the “butcher” moved to middleweight to try to reduce difficult weight cuts. Unfortunately, the plan backfired.
The battle was 190 pounds, with scheduled scraps against Nursulton Ruziboev, surpassing the non-title combat limits by 4 pounds. As a result, the battle was discarded and the battle was handed his release.
Battle is not particularly interested in hearing online what all hatred has to say about his quantitative gaffe, but the Missouri native has not offered excuses for a second straight miss.
“I definitely knew it was a possibility,” Battle told MMA Fighting when asked about it being released by the UFC. “I definitely thought that could happen and you know, it was justified. It’s not something I’m alone (exposing) but I’m not going to lie, I thought they weren’t going to cut me.
After all, the next thing is a bit dirty boxing.
DBX debut Brian Battle Set
A few days after his UFC exit, it was announced that Battle will make his dirty boxing championship debut this Friday at DBX 3 in Miami. The battle will be played against Derik de Freitas in the event.
They will also compete in the DBX 3 before previous UFC heavyweight standouts Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Jessica Rose-Clark, Tyson Nam and Alex Caceres. The event will air live on August 29th at 8pm via the promotional YouTube channel.
