Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes continues to attract significant transfer interest, with a new report from BBC Sport revealing that the Portuguese playmaker’s current contract has a release clause of €65 million.
The clause, which represents a relatively modest fee for a player like Fernandes, has reportedly attracted the attention of clubs across Europe and in the Saudi Professional League, where financial giants remain keen on signing elite talent.
Fernandes, now 31, remains one of United’s most influential figures, both as a creative force and as a leader.
Bruno Fernandes was Man United’s best player
Since joining from Sporting CP in January 2020, he has become the focal point of the team’s attack.
His work ethic, mentality and consistency earned him the captain’s armband and made him one of the few players to retain the faith of the fans during a tumultuous period at Old Trafford.
Even though his importance remains high, interest from abroad is increasing. The Saudi Pro League made several attempts to bring Fernandes to the Middle East last summer, but he turned down those offers, but the league’s leading clubs are expected to resume their pursuit.
The existence of a clause of 65 million euros makes this deal economically viable for them.
However, sources close to Fernandes insist he has no intention of leaving Man United at this stage.
Fernandes not looking for an exit from Old Trafford
His focus will be to support manager Ruben Amorim, with whom he shares a strong professional relationship, and to lead the club back into a position to compete for major honours.
Still, uncertainty surrounding United’s wider sporting projects, coupled with interest from Europe’s top teams, will likely keep speculation going.
Fernandes’ contract runs until 2027 and includes a one-year extension option.
United are expected to discuss a potential renewal or amendment to his terms in 2026, but for now the release clause remains in place, leaving the possibility of a surprise approach from an ambitious suitor.
