The British Superbike Championship organizers have announced tweaks to the final 2025 round of mock format to include the prequalification segment at the end of FP2.
The 2025 BSB season is coming to an end, with only two rounds remaining at Alton Park this weekend.
For the rounds that determine these titles, organizers announced changes to the practice format following consultations with the team and riders.
Currently, two practice sessions are being held on the first day of the event, with the fastest 12 being granted direct entry to the Q2 qualifying session at the end of FP2.
However, we have made fine tweaks to FP2 and dedicated the prequalification segment to give teams and riders more setup time during these practice sessions.
This segment is specifically made for time attacks, with subsequent order determining the normal Q1 and Q2 groups.
The qualifying session remains the same, with six fastest players in the first quarter to advance to the Q2 pole shootout session.
The BSB tweak statement read: “Consulting with teams and riders, the promoter/organizer will implement revised practices and qualification formats for the remaining rounds of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
“The goal is to extend and use a free practice session to balance machine setup and performance assessments without affecting the qualification configuration.
“The ‘Pre-Qualifying’ Session (PQ) will be merged into Free Practice 2 to establish a regular qualifying group (Q1/Q2).
“Tire control after PQ will be established.”
In the Alton Park round, reigning champion Kyle Ryde scored 391 points from fellow Yamaha rider Bradley Ray in the 360.
This is the second event in the showdown that will determine the 2025 British Superbike Champion.
