Byron Scott believes La Lakers has a plan for LeBron James.
LeBron James is nearing the end of his career. The Los Angeles Lakers star is only 40 years old and plays at the superstar level, but he’s got caught up in and there’s not much time in the NBA.
James has activated the Lakers a $52.6 million player option. This is a rare occurrence as we regularly extend our team contracts every summer.
This led to speculation that James was about to leave the Lakers. His agent, Rich Paul, said James wants to compete for the NBA championship and would consider leaving the Lakers if necessary.
However, over the last few days, James and the Lakers seem to have come to understand and work together to build a competitor.
James is with the Lakers and wants to win the championship. But how much remains in his career? Well, according to one former NBA star, James can expect to see the rest of the decade.
Olden Polynice spoke to Byron Scott on a podcast about what the future of Lebron James will look like in Los Angeles Lakers.
Polinis believes James still has plenty in the tank, and continues to play until he reaches 45, and doesn’t really think he’s serious about actually competing for the championship.
“LeBron showed us who he is. He has all the records. He should have left three years ago, but he hasn’t.
“Let me do something no one has done. When he reaches 45, he sees it and says, “Damn, I’m still in good health. I can still go.”
“He hasn’t reached the ‘stealing year’ yet. Is he chasing the ring? He has to go to OKC to get the ring. ”
Byron Scott also spoke about the La Lakers timeline with LeBron James, predicting that it wouldn’t happen, and predicting that he would remain with the team until at least 2027.
“No, I don’t (I think he’ll be traded). That’s possible, but I don’t think it’s very likely.
“I won’t see him leaving LA. I won’t see the Lakers trade him. I think he’ll stay for the biggest two more years.”
If the Lakers can hold LeBron James for another two years, that could complicate their team-building plans.
James has been sticking with the Lakers this season, but their plans may not have surpassed this year.
The Lakers are building over LeBron James around Luka Donsic for a long-term future. But if James is likely to stick to Max’s pay, it makes his ability to sign a solid Lakers player much more difficult.
For now, we can expect James to be with the LA Lakers. However, anything beyond next season should not be treated as given.
