Cam Thomas is a consistently promising player in the Brooklyn Net. He dealt with injuries during the 2024-25 season, but he showed potential as a go-to man. He hopes as his restricted free agency will come in the summer of 2025 Stay.
Most NBA fans predicted the Brooklyn Nets to be one of the worst teams in the league in the 2024-25 season. Luckily for the net, they surpassed their 19.5 win forecast even before the season began.
It was by no means the best record, but the net showed they could be with their current team. The Nets’ go-to guy, Cam Thomas, played only 25 games, but he was good at scoring. The net could have competed for a spot in the play-in tournament if he was perfectly healthy.
Due to his position as a restricted free agent, Thomas wants to sign the team and extension that drafted him. Net head coach Jordi Fernandez sees a lot of possibilities from the young security guard.
Thomas loves the organization and the city so there’s no problem re-signing the net. But he has to assess all his options. Because that’s wise. But his heart is in Brooklyn, which is a good sign for Nets fans.
On the list of players to watch in the free agency market, Thomas is one of the most promising. He has a natural knack for scoring, especially in his self-created shots. This is a special asset in the league with almost every team’s lockdown defender.
The net gives him a green light to score, so that’s a good place for him to stay. Fernandez loves his game.
However, his decision regarding the contract depends on his agent’s decision. Of course, Thomas has a say, so his love for Brooklyn can make him stay.
“I definitely want to go back to Brooklyn, and it is definitely home for me.
“You’re drafted and you definitely build bonds with a lot of people there, so I definitely love it there,” Thomas told WKTR News 3.
“But at the same time, you have to do the best for you in the business side. So I have to play it with my ears, but I definitely want to go back for sure. I definitely love Brooklyn.”
Brooklyn is rebuilding, so they hope that players will be with their team for a long-term future. Thomas is already a deadly scorer, and he is the perfect candidate to build a team. He continues to improve his game, including his defense and playmaking.
All parties benefit from the net locking him into a critical contract extension. Thomas wants stability, but there are scorers in the net who can score over 25 points per game. He has always said he wants to stay on the team. This should be a good sign.
The rest of the team still needs work, but it’s good to have Thomas as one of his basic pieces. Nets general manager Sean Marks hopes players will continue to develop while empowering Fernandez.
Rebuilding can be difficult, but signing an extension to Thomas should be an easy decision. As long as Thomas and the rest of the team continue to grow, the net could be the top team.
