Carmelo Anthony and Demar Derozan believe that NBA players are hurting themselves just by filming a three-pointer.
The modern day of the NBA is defined by one shot, or three pointers. Since Stephen Curry appeared as a superstar, more and more players have been leaning against the scoring around them.
Mike D’Antoni praised Curry and the Warriors for changing the game, adapting the NBA to a fast-paced style of basketball.
However, the effects of curry have led to generations of players becoming overly dependent on external fire. Moreover, unlike curry, younger players are much more inefficient at 3-point scoring.
The days when players drive to the basket and use their physicality to score points are gone. Now all they need is a little separation to skip the shot.
Former NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and De Marde Rozan believe that the younger players are leaving points at the table in doing so.
Carmelo Anthony and Demar Derozan spoke about midrange shots in Brooklyn at 7pm. Discussed the success that Shy Gilgas Alexander had on the shot, and the coach encouraged players to consider it.
Mello added that the ability to get the best possible shot is important for any player. And that idea is something that many players today lack.
Carmelo Anthony: “The championship team wins the game in the mid-range, and I don’t care how many threes I film.
“Your three aren’t always there. You’re not always able to go to the rack. If you have a midi, you’re in danger.
“It’s dangerous because Shy plays to get the best shots. It’s not about shooting numbers or trays, but about taking the best shots…”
Derozan pointed out that young players are under pressure to play like Stephen Curry.
Demar Derozan: “It’s tough. I remember being disappointed when the young guys were on the field because they had to go out there and be Stephen Curry all the time.
“No one is going to be Stephen Curry. There’s one Stephen Curry. What he can do is incredible. I don’t think we’ll ever see other people like that.
“I’ll be a midrange politician.
“I stuck to being myself. I didn’t let anyone change that. I just worked and tried great things with what I did. It took me this far.
It’s good to see two extremely successful players, Derozan and Anthony.
Perhaps Shy Gilgas Alexander’s MVP and championship success will inspire offensive, versatile players.
