Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony shares his opinion on the All-Stars the Charlotte Hornets must trade in pairing with the LaMelo Ball.
The Charlotte Hornets are currently 19-57 years old and are sitting 14th in the Eastern Conference.
Their two young stars, Lamelo Ball and Brandon Miller, both missed a fair amount of time due to injuries.
With no play this season, the team hopes to continue rebuilding by getting high picks in future drafts.
Ball has recently attracted some criticism, but he is a special player and combining him with the stars is another option the team can explore.
Carmelo Anthony, a newest member of Naismith’s Basketball Hall of Games, believes that Zion Williamson could become a player who can make a difference for the Hornets.
Williamson’s stint with the Pelican in New Orleans has been pretty interesting as it continues to show potential, but fails to maintain a certain level of fitness that will bring you a link away from the franchise.
Former NBA scoring champion Carmelo Anthony thinks it’s the perfect escape for Williamson as he could become part of a solid “one-two punch” along with the ball.
Speaking to Carmelo Anthony at 7pm in Brooklyn, he said:
“You really had to think about it, you really wanted it, you couldn’t give up on something real, something groundbreaking because he demands it. So you really have to think about the situation.”
Williamson averaged 24.6 ppg with 56.7% shooting from the field, but he only played 30 games and the team has already announced he will be out for the season due to injury.
Anthony said despite a disappointing history of injuries, Williamson could contribute if placed in another situation.
“He was at the beginning of his career and he is still developing and he is thinking about it, and there is more experience for him.
“You ask me who, I want him to see him in Charlotte, along with Lamelo and the other young excitement.
“They can start trajectories and situations like the same age, like the same age, as long as the next step needs to be a victory situation. Charlotte has to find a way to make a winning product, go and make a splash,” he added.
Williamson and Ball are two of the best young players in the league. Both have different playing styles, but they can complement each other well.
Ball is a point guard that can be earned and made by playing, but Williamson is a natural force that can wreak havoc on paint and lob.
Both can help the Hornets get past the line and end the playoff drought that lasted nine years.
However, the team has to give up a lot of assets in Williamson’s deal as he is a young All-Star.
But the Hornets have been rebuilding for years and have not achieved success in the postseason, so they are in a position they may have to do that.
He could be a player who helps them, and his health is a big concern, but the team must take the chance as when Fit Williamson is the sensation.
