Most of the New York Knicks are still wondering what happened in Game 2 defeat.
Cade Cunningham and Dennis Schroeder stepped up for the Detroit Pistons in a victory at Madison Square Garden, but the New York Knicks had a question. Karl Anthony Towns.
In key game two of the opening round of the NBA playoffs, the Karl Antony Towns disappeared, and Detroit was able to steal home court advantage and tie the series together 1-1.
After an impressive display in the opening of the first round series, the Towns finished with a terrible 10 points and six boards at the team’s 100-94 loss.
Towns’ disappointing game two plays were highlighted by his offensive absence during crunch time.
Throughout the second half, Star Center failed to nail even a single point. And in the fourth quarter, despite playing 12 minutes against the piston, he didn’t even try a single field goal.
As a general and facilitator on their floor, Jalen Brunson was already heavily responsible for the town’s performance. But Carmelo Anthony believes it comes down to the willingness of the New York Big Man to take things over.
At 7pm on the Brooklyn Podcast, Knicks legend urged town to own the moment completely and step it up.
“Just as Cat doesn’t take shots, for me, that’s part of him too,” Anthony insisted.
“You have to ask for an S__, you’re going to ask for the ball. You could ask for Branson (two plays). … You have to have an IQ to see that.
“Kat has now demanded more situations and demanded the ball – get a score or play.
“Kat has to demand more of such stretches and make herself do more.”
Anthony is attending Madison Square Garden in Games 1 and 2 between the Knicks and Piston. And this adds weight to his observations.
The town is far better than what was previously delivered in Game 2. He is a five-time All-Star and a player that the Knicks franchise has actively acquired from the Minnesota Timber Wolves at the expense of Julius Randle and Don Tedie Vincento.
Both Branson and head coach Tom Thibodeau certainly play an important factor, but the town must be very careful about how he can position himself for his offensive looks. Marquee’s 7-Game Series will move to Motor City, so we can only wait.
“I know when to pop, when to roll. There was a time when he should have pop or rolled,” Anthony added of the town.
“Detroit continues to the game plan. They’re stuck to it. I think when it comes to Cat, he has to demand it. The game’s IQ is starting to start now.
“No one should tell you that. You should communicate with JB.”
