Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is eyeing Juventus to take over as manager until next season, according to Simon Phillips.
The Italian tactician did a fantastic job during his time at Stamford Bridge, winning last season’s European Conference League and also winning the Club World Cup in the summer.
On top of that, Maresca improved more than previous managers such as Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter last season, helping Chelsea return to the top four in the Premier League.
Maresca could definitely be a great appointment for Juve and there appears to be real concrete interest in him.
Enzo Maresca is Juventus’ top manager target for next season
Phillips said there had been contact with Maresca’s agent, but it was not yet clear whether he had had direct contact with Chelsea.
Juventus have just appointed Luciano Spalletti as their manager until the end of the season, with the option of extending him for another year if he takes the club to the Champions League.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but one imagines Maresca could still be a target for Juventus.
The Turin giants are probably impressed with Maresca’s work at Chelsea and the west Londoners would do well to keep him around.
Should Chelsea keep Enzo Maresca?
Some Chelsea fans may feel that even if Maresca has performed better than his recent predecessor, there is still room for improvement at the club.
This CFC team still has its issues and isn’t particularly consistent, so perhaps a player with more experience winning majors could be ideal to help this group of young players reach their potential.
Is Maresca the right fit for Chelsea or is this an opportunity to bring in a better manager? Let us know what you think in the comments!
