Leeds have made a decent start to their return to the Premier League as they look to avoid immediate relegation to the Championship. And they will look to improve their chances of survival by adding reinforcements to Daniel Farke’s squad when the transfer window reopens in January.
There are areas in Leeds’ first-team squad that may need to be worked on in January, one of which is midfield. That’s why the possible targets of the move are listed.
Leeds significantly increase chances of signing Piotr Zielinski
Leeds are interested in signing Inter Milan and Poland international midfielder Piotr Zielinski, according to a report by Pete O’Rourke for Football Insider (via Leeds Press), who are expected to make a move when the January transfer window opens.
“He was linked with Leeds in the summer and has also been linked with a few other midfielders. He is well down the pecking order at San Siro. He has struggled for game time, started just two Champions League games and has not started a Serie A game.
“There is no doubt that Inter would welcome his departure to save money and increase their own transfer fee. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to sell Zielinski to Leeds.”
Between Napoli and Inter, Zielinski has been playing in Serie A for around 10 years and will provide plenty of experience to Leeds’ first-team squad. If a financially viable loan deal can be finalized, it would be very good business for the Elland Road side and would almost certainly improve their chances of avoiding relegation from the Premier League when the domestic season ends in May.
