At this point, the lack of offseason moves by the Golden State Warriors could be a sign that something big will happen later in the season.
Last season, the Golden State Warriors reached the postseason with their hair thanks to a late-season surge after Jimmy Butler’s trading.
However, the obvious gap in the Warriors’ roster was exposed to playoff time as they were sent home in the second round.
As a result, expectations from the front office were to operate in the offseason to strengthen the roster before the 2025-26 NBA season. But so far, Dub has not even completed a single acquisition.
With Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler all in their mid-30s at their core, it’s clear that the Warriors’ championship windows are shrinking rapidly.
So why isn’t the front office doing everything with its strength to maximize the little time it had left to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy? Well, former NBA player Channing Fry has a theory.
“Not trolls, the Warriors blow it off mid-season. They’re not making any move. I think the team is good, but look where the NBA is heading,” Frye told the Road Trippin podcast.
“OKC is a very tall team. The Cleveland Cavaliers are a tall team. Boston is a big team. Denver is a big team. Minnesota is a tall team. The Lakers, Clippers and Houston are very tall.
“The Golden State still plays a little ball so I don’t know if that will work anymore. They have to make another move to make me feel confident.”
With Kevon Rooney’s departure in mind, Fry’s concerns over the lack of a tall athletic center make more sense than ever.
“Who is their starting center? I just don’t think you can succeed in playing little balls anymore. You need to have a legitimate big man.”
Neutral fans are now divided into the Warriors offseason strategy. Some believe not to make any major changes to the roster is a dangerous move, while others are riding it.
In fact, Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George is supporting the Warriors to compete for his current roster and another NBA championship.
But what does the franchise’s face think about it? Now, Curry emphasized that the early playoff exits for Dub gave the team an edge over their opponents.
Plus, the baby face-to-face assassins don’t seem to be worried about the lack of movement as they trust their team will evolve after the 82-game regular season.
But if fries’ predictions come true and the Warriors blow up the roster during the season, that could mean giving up on Curry’s Twilight year. Is the 4x NBA champion riding it? Only time can be seen.
