Charles Barkley shared an interesting view on what happened after the Detroit Pistons and the New York Knicks game on Sunday afternoon.
The piston was 94-93 when Tim Hardaway Jr. tried a three-point shot to win the game with the final buzzer. He airballed the effort and the Knicks won.
However, Josh Hart apparently fouled Hardaway JR in the shooting action, so he should have had three free throws and had to make two for the win.
After the game, the NBA issued a statement acknowledging that the referee had made a mistake.
Many were plagued by the referees for missing out on defining a series, apparently and potentially, in the second half of the Pistons-Knicks game.
However, Barkley has made the exception to the NBA’s response to the situation, threw a ref “under the bus.”
He also stated a valid point that we all knew that it was an error anyway, so the statement only added unnecessary fuel to the fire.
Berkley explained: “Tell me something, man. As much as I love it, it’s given me a great life, that’s the stupidest thing ever. Does it actually help pistons?
“Yeah, we know it was a foul. They missed the call. But (statement) and “We want to be transparent,” it doesn’t help the piston. ”
The Knicks were still in balance as they led the Series 2-1 before Game 4 in Detroit on Sunday. That’s not for another terrible call.
If Piston level the series 2-2, the Knicks will be under great pressure to regain their lead in Game 5 at Madison Square Garden.
Instead, Tom Thibodeau’s team has healthy benefits and needs to win one of the remaining three games.
Of course, REF is all wrong now, but this latest one probably resolved the series between two equally matching teams.
