Charles Barkley has ever won his best celebrity golf performances, but remains the biggest long shot on the field to win this week’s American Century Championship at South Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Berkley’s odds? 7,500-1 on Caesars Sportsbook. These odds seduced a handful of bettors selected to invest in the basketball hall of fame with an extraordinary swing. He reached a career-high 58th place in last year’s tournament.
Sportsbook set an over/under this week at 65.5 in Berkley’s finish position.
“We’ve seen just a handful of tickets to Berklee to get it all, and we might see them on eBay soon,” Anthony Salleroli, lead of Golf Oddsmaker at Caesars Sportsbook, joked in an email to ESPN.
Former tennis pro Mardifish won the tournament last year, but retired hockey player Joe Pavelski is his favorite bet at this week’s tournament. Pavelski was +220, winning the tournament with the Caesars Sportsbook, followed by Fish (+240), CBS NFL analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (+350), and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry (+425).
Saleroli said the betting actions on the winner of the event were split relatively evenly between Pavelski, fish, curry and lomo. Curry won the tournament in 2023, while Romo won in 2022.
Other notable players on the 90 golfer field include Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (45-1), actor Alfon Soribeiro (175-1), Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kells (275-1), ESPN analyst Jason Kells (350-1), and comedian Larry (2,000-1).
