The Dallas Mavericks have a lot to be excited about during the 2025-26 NBA season.
Despite facing an overwhelming end to the 2024-25 season following Luka Doncic to La Lakers’ trade, the Dallas Mavericks fanbase is optimistic.
First of all, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, Cooper Flag, will make its league debut during the 2025-26 season. Fans are expecting incredible things from the former Duke star.
Additionally, Mavs has talented veterans like Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving.
Former NBA star-turned analyst Charles Barkley recently appeared on the BetMGM network. During the show he gave the Mavericks his views for the upcoming season.
Chuck believes that Mavs have what they need to control the Western Conference, but that’s only if their stars remain healthy.
“Please tell us about the Dallas Mavericks team, if they’re healthy, they might be the second best team in the West.
“Obviously, Kylie is back mid-season, but if the ads are healthy and there’s that boy Cooper Flag, he’s a real deal,” Berkley said.
The injury was a major concern for MAV last season, who was derailed late in the campaign.
Mavs has a talented roster heading into a new season, but if they get bitten by an injury bug again, that’s not good.
Aside from building a championship roster, the 2025-26 NBA season is a challenge for head coach Jason Kidd.
After all, this will be Kid’s first season without Don Sic on his roster. With the small sample size fans saw last season, Kidd’s team struggled without the Slovenian superstar.
Of course, the injury made it worse. Nonetheless, Kidd must prove his critics wrong. The easiest way to identify it is to use Flag in court by Kidd.
Kidd already has Flagg’s role in mind, but it will be interesting to see if the strategy actually works in Mavericks’ advantage.
