Wallaroos’ trump card Charlotte Caslick has been removed from the Women’s Rugby World Cup campaign on the side.
The three-time Olympian and Rugby Sevens gold medalists have recovered from ankle surgery.
She was included in the team and was looking to return to her second Cup Pool game later this month.
The 30-year-old paused her Sevens career and switched full-time to the 15-a-side code this year, adding influence to the Wallaroos cup charge.
However, the backline talent, who said rehabilitation was on track last week, was ruled out on Monday as the team prepares to fly to England.
The uncapped Wallaroos Center Manu’a Moleka replaced Caslick. Caslick was still able to appear as an injury replacement later in the tournament.
“Charlotte’s timeline for returning to pool games has changed following medical advice,” Coach Joe Yap said.
“The decision has been made to allow her to continue the accelerated recovery program, which could potentially be available as an exchange of injuries, if she needs a player later in the tournament.
“We are truly fortunate and excited that Manua will be participating in the World Cup.
“Manua has been part of the tour team since the start of the international test season and deserves a thorough opportunity to participate.”
Caslick played five tests and was beginning to find his feet in the centre. He scored on his first touch against New Zealand last month before getting injured in the same game.
Australia, third in seven cup appearances, will begin a campaign with Samoa on August 23rd.
Moreka joins sister Faitala on the team of Wallaros.
