Chelsea was treated to a nightmare this week after news of Levi Colwill’s serious ACL injury.
The British were hit by a new injury at the end of their first training session at Cobham in a serious incident of unlucky.

Colwill will be revealed for the majority of next season after undergoing scans and surgery on the issue, and the potential addition of a new centre-back suddenly becomes even more important.
Chelsea recently placed a pen on paper about Jorrel Hato’s contract, who took part in a nearly £38 million move from Ajax, but the club sees him as a replacement for more left backs and Marc Cucurella.
Bruce was clearly still watching the new centre-back, even before Colwill’s injury, so it’s safe to say he’s considering at least one move now as he approaches the final weeks of the window.
“Chelsea will still be in the market for new centre-backs and new goalkeepers, even after Jorell Hat comes in.
There is no guarantee that both positions have been signed or even one has been signed at this stage. It also depends on the outgoing of the centre back. However, Chelsea is still very much exploring both markets this summer. ”
However, people within the club believe that Chelsea already has a solid colwill alternative.
Chelsea coaching staff hopes that Lenart Veiga will replace Levi Colwill
According to TBR football and journalist Graeme Bailey, the man is 22-year-old centre-back Renato Baiga.
Portugal International is widely expected to leave this summer after spending the second half of 2024/2025 on loan in Juventus, with Chelsea offering Beiga to various clubs.
However, it is now believed that members of Chelsea’s coaching staff believe Veiga should be given the opportunity to replace Colwill and show his worth.
“Chelsea is doing everything in Colwill, he’s a very popular player, an important performer for them, and they’re fully supporting him,” Bailey said.
“But they appreciate their options and I’m told there are some voices in Cobham. I believe Cobham, along with Veiga, Anselmino and Hato, can handle it very well in the short term without him.”
Maresca sent a public message last season at the age of 22. At the time, Veiga wanted to be used as a centre-back, not as the fullback where Chelsea bosses often deployed him.
“We brought Renato from Basel and he played well in various positions,” Maresca said via Ben Jacobs.
“This has allowed him to join the (Portuguese) national team for the first time in his life. Even if he’s not playing (in his preferred position), he’s been playing for his national team in his early 20s since joining Chelsea. We’re extremely proud of that.”
It appears that if Push sticks out due to Colwill being injured, Veiga could be recognized for his desire to use more centrally.
